Our Treatment Room Nurse holds surgeries and will carry out, after consultation with your doctor, routine bloods tests, ECGs (heart tracings), urine testing, blood pressure checks, weight checks and spirometry.

There are two Practice Nurses offering a wide range of services and are available by appointment in the surgery, Mon-Fri between 0830– 1300 and 1400– 1800

Among the services provided are:

  • Dressing and removal of stitches
  • Routine immunisation (incl. overseas travel)
  • Advice on diet and weight reduction
  • Blood pressure check, recommended at least every 5 years
  • Ear syringe – after seeing the doctor
  • ECG (Cardiograph) when requested by your doctor
  • Hearing test when advised by your doctor
  • Blood test when advised by your doctor
  • Cervical Smears
  • Health Promotion Clinics
  • Cryotherapy (warts, verruca’s)

Nurse Practitioner
Jean Sargeant, RGN, BSc Hons Nurse Practitioner
Our Nurse Practitioner uses advanced level nursing skills and undertakes some of the tasks traditionally undertaken by Doctors. These conditions include acute illness and managing long-term health problems. Patients may make an appointment directly with our nurse practitioner without seeing a doctor.

District Nurses provide evidence based care to patients in their own homes. We have a skilled team of District Nurses who provide care for patients of all ages. In the community, arrangements for care at home are usually made by the doctors or on discharge from the hospital but should you wish to
contact the nurse yourself, telephone 577015.

HEALTH VISITORS

Mary Stewart: RGN, BN, QIMT

Health visitors are registered general nurses and specialise in community health care. They can giv information and help to pre natal and post natal mothers and young children nunder 5. They can be contacted by telephoning 577014.
